eBay is now officially a joke if you're a seller

Saw this article in The Age today and was only vaguely interested, which tells me a lot.  I've been using eBay for almost 10 years, and have loved it for most of that time.  Last week I listed some excess furniture - only 1 item sold after the 7 days. I then put exactly the same items, for exactly the same price, on Gumtree, which is completely free, and all but 1 item was sold within 3 hours.  I suspect that removing listing fees is eBay's idea of competing with sites like Gumtree, but increasing final value fees, especially after removing the ability for sellers to leave negative feedback, makes it even more of a buyer's market than a seller's market.  Problem is, what will they do if they lose all their sellers?  After my Gumtree experience they've pretty much lost me, which I thought would never happen.
