Adobe = schmucks

Well Adobe, you are complete bastards. I got Adobe CS5 Master Collection, student edition, in 2010. There is a CS6 which came out last year, and now there is ... *drumroll*... "Creative Cloud". Where you charge me on a monthly basis, forever. Yes, I can see how that would benefit me NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST. So I Google to try to find a way to upgrade to CS6. EVERY SINGLE LINK now just redirects to the "Creative Cloud" page. So I ring the company I originally bought the software from. Yes, I can upgrade CS5 -> CS6 - but not "student", I would need to just buy a brand new version of "CS6 student" outright. FOR ALMOST $600. There is not even remotely $600 worth of stuff in CS6 that makes it worth "upgrading" to it. And WTF happens with "cloud" software when you need to work and your internet connection goes down? Huh? Huh?? So, CS5 it will remain.

HOW ABOUT GIVING CUSTOMERS WHAT THEY WANT, YOU COMPLETE TOSSERS??

I'll say it again - this is why people pirate.
/rant off :)

Diana Ferrari WTF

I used to be a fan of the clothing store Colorado, which went belly-up in 2011. A couple of weeks ago I read this article:

http://www.smartcompany.com.au/retail/055234-going-going-still-going-colorado-brand-up-for-sale-again.html

Which quotes the following:
Colorado was a very successful retailer which lost its way. Even with the most valiant efforts of the retailer's new management, it's still not the same horse that it used to be.
and
Walker says the company's problems started when it dabbled in apparel.
"The fundamental dilemma occurred when it went from shoes into apparel. They wanted to be all things to all people, but as tempting as it is, it very seldom works."
For some time now I've been on the Diana Ferrari email list. Yes, the Diana Ferrari which is part of Fusion Retail Brands - which also owns/owned Colorado. Yes, the Diana Ferrari WHICH USED TO BE JUST ALL ABOUT SHOES. Here is their latest newsletter:

Marketing... :(

I decided yesterday I'd had enough of Marketing. I'm choosing not to look at it as giving up; rather, acknowledging that my head isn't in the right place for study at the moment - what I hoped would be a distraction from recent life events has turned out to be a stressor instead. Life is too short to be stressed and unhappy, particularly over something you don't even like much. Adios, 'Marketing Concepts' xo
