However, the high resolution screen (3000x2000) caused some problems with my non-CC version of Photoshop. It installed, sure - but the menus and dialog boxes were so small I couldn't actually read them.
Of course, Adobe's recommendation is to upgrade to CC, which I refuse to do on account of already paying a LOT of money for the entire Master Collection a few years ago, which does everything I need it to do and way, way more.
Anyway, I found this solution via Dan Antonielli which works perfectly:

Thanks Dan! I can see again!
Edit 2026: In case these instructions ever disappear (and because I am currently reinstalling this on a new laptop and got nervous about finding the instructions again!):
How it’s done:
- Right-click the shortcut icon of applications you want to adjust
- Select ‘Properties’ (If the icon is in the taskbar, you will have to right-click the second app icon)
- Select the ‘Compatibility‘ tab
- Select ‘Change high DPI settings‘ at the bottom of the tab
- Check ‘Override high DPI scaling behavior‘ at the bottom
- Select ‘System (Enhanced)‘ from the drop down
- Select ‘OK‘ and then ‘OK‘ again to apply
- Launch the application to see the difference
